In addition to the ICLEI Case Studies series, ICLEI publishes case studies as part of thematic projects and reports:
Together with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) ICLEI launched the 2015 report: “Innovative city-business collaboration – Emerging good practice to enhance sustainable urban development”.
This study looks at six initiatives around the world that aspire to facilitate city-business collaboration with holistic, multi-stakeholder approaches from: Urban Infrastructure Initiative by the WBCSD; Indore, India; Scania, Sweden; Houston, USA; Rakli, Finland and Bottrop, Germany.
It provides insights into lessons learned and draws on the common aspects of the cases as well as some of their differences. Download the full report as well as the case study compilation here.
The Urban NEXUS case studies highlight examples of integrated approaches to resource management and service delivery in cities and metropolitan regions, and were developed as part of the GIZ-ICLEI Urban NEXUS project including the study "Operationalizing the Urban NEXUS: towards resource-efficient and integrated cities and metropolitan regions", funded by the BMZ.
The case examples that were developed include 29 shorter Case Stories from around the world and 8 in-depth Case Studies on: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Nashik, India; Vancouver, Canada; Hannover, Germany; Tianjin, China; eThekwini, South Africa; Lille Métropole, France; and Medellín, Colombia.
These case studies were identified and selected for a global study by ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability on behalf of IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency) to illustrate how local governments can support a transition to Renewable Energy. The city cases in focus span five different continents and are from the following countries: Australia, Brazil, China, India, Germany, Sweden, and United States.
The case studies portray a broad mix of what local governments can do to enhance the deployment of Renewable Energy in their city. Below, you may find an overview of the themes and case studies, and links to download the digital publications.
