A lawyer by profession, Gino's career spans 25 years, including stints in Russia, the European Commission and the Government of Flanders cabinet. From 2003 to 2006, he was a member of the EU Expert Group to the European Commission on the Urban Environment. He co-drafted the Aalborg Commitments on urban sustainability to which over 500 European cities and towns have adhered since 2004. He undertakes official observer duties on behalf of ICLEI at the COP negotiations on Climate Change, expert roles at the European Commission, Council of Europe, and Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe. Monika joined ICLEI in 1993 when she started to build up the International Training Centre at ICLEI European Secretariat, where she was responsible for around 50 events, distance training courses, international projects and the set-up of ICLEI's new working areas. Since joining the World Secretariat in 2010, she has been responsible for the teams working on global events, knowledge management, urban research, EcoMobility and Future City Leaders. She has published various books, founded and edited environmental magazines, and served as board member of national NGOs in Germany.

Yunus Arikan has been working at ICLEI World Secretariat since 2009. Between 2009-2012, he led ICLEI´s Cities Climate Center. Within this scope, he advanced and coordinated ICLEI´s work on climate mitigation, established the Bonn Center for Local Climate Action and Reporting - carbonn, operating the Cities Climate Registry, and served as the Director of Secretariat the World Mayors Council on Climate Change. Since 2013, he leads ICLEI´s policy and advocacy work at the UN ECOSOC, UN bodies and multilateral agreements.
Eva leads our Membership Working Group, manages membership policy, our global governance bodies, and supports the Secretary General's office liaising with Regional Office Directors.

Before joining ICLEI, Eléonore was a project manager for the International Urban Food Network for almost two years. During this time, she gained great experience communicating in a way that resonates with a range of actors including local activists, ministerial representatives and researchers from all over the world. Prior to this, Eléonore spent two years working for Lafarge SA in France, where strategic marketing and communications were at the core of her efforts.
Dana develops written content and supports strategic messaging at ICLEI. Before joining ICLEI, Dana worked with various international organizations based in Guatemala and the United Kingdom to help them craft and share stories that further their work. Dana has a background in gender and development and youth rights with experience in communications and project management. She is particularly interested in promoting, networking and implementing locally-led sustainable development solutions.

Pourya joined ICLEI's Urban Research Team in January 2017. Having studied Urban Planning at University of Tehran, Pourya gained professional experience through working for urban and environmental consulting companies. Prior to joining ICLEI, Pourya worked as researcher in the area of disaster resilience for IGG at University of Bonn. Before joining ICLEI’s Events Team, Ayan worked as a project assistant at the Sigmund Neumann Institute for the Research on Freedom and Democracy. She also volunteered for the SOS Children's Villages - Azerbaijan Association, worked with AIESEC in Denmark and has been a founding member of the Model United Nations Association of the University of Flensburg. Ayan gained first-hand experience in event management by working as an organizing team member of the Model UN cross-border conference in Flensburg/Sønderborg.

Victoria is part of the ICLEI World Congress team and previously took part in the Resilient Cities 2017 Congress. Victoria worked for the public sector in Mexico for five years, and prior to joining ICLEI, she was a legislative adviser to the Director General of the Mexican National Water Commission. She also has experience working on human rights, gender equity and institutional communication. A passionate of politics and electoral processes, Victoria has a background in sociology, integrated urban development and governance.
Yiqian Zhang joined ICLEI in 2017. She coordinates the EcoMobility World Festival and the Congress series, with a focus on liaising with project partners, registration and logistics management. An ecologist and development professional with over 20 years of work experience across a spectrum of sectors straddling the rural and urban domains. Building on more than 20 years work experience, Maryke coordinates international projects such as Urban-LEDS, and supports global climate advocacy. Specializing in local climate action and sustainable energy since 2000, she joined ICLEI Europe in 2006 and today leads ICLEI's global low emission strategy development. Prior to this, she led the Scientific Projects Unit of the International Solar Energy Society. Maryke is a visiting lecturer to several Summer Schools and regularly contributes to the REN 21 Global Status Report and other publications.
A certified greenhouse gas (GHG) auditor, Chang has first-hand experience in GHG emission accounting and project development in Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI). She is now dedicated in transferring experience and knowledge in Low Emission Development to the urban level. Chang is actively involved in the further development of the Global Protocol for community-scale GHG Emissions (GPC) and outlining a Measurable, Reportable, Verifiable (MRV) process for local climate action.

Prior to joining ICLEI, he conducted research on climate change adaptation and mitigation with FAO in Rome.
Carla deals with technical content and data analysis, as well as further development of the cCR. She is the project coordinator of the One Planet City Challenge (OPCC), run in partnership with WWF, to encourage quality reporting by local governments. Further, Carla assists coordination of the Building Efficiency Accelerator (BEA) where technical support is provided to cities.

Jisun is actively following and coordinating ICLEI’s engagement in the framework of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Beatrice Ch'ng has an interdisciplinary training in sustainability science and policy. Her interest in urban sustainability led her to research on informal mobility in Kampala, Uganda. Prior to working with ICLEI, Beatrice was an environmental consultant in an international consulting firm delivering technical and business solutions to multinational companies and governments.

Originally from South Africa, Hannah is passionate about catalyzing local economic development. Her background includes research on private investment in emerging markets for the OECD as well as diverse roles working in urban innovation and sustainability in Cape Town and Paris.
