The Kaohsiung Strategies are a roadmap for city leaders to shape the future of urban transport

The Kaohsiung Strategies for the Future of Urban Mobility, announced at the closing plenary of the EcoMobility World Congress 2017 by Monika Zimmerman, Deputy Secretary General of ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, and Mayor Chen Chu of Kaohsiung, are based on the 10 Shared Mobility Principles, also launched at the Congress. The Shared Principles were developed by over 13 international organizations that promote and support sustainable transport, including ecomobility

The Kaohsiung Strategies take these principles a step further, providing a roadmap for local governments to implement these principles in their communities and turn ideas into action.

The Strategies also encourage a focused debate on emerging transport trends and technologies, encouraging city leaders to review these critically when designing and implementing mobility policies.

The Kaohsiung Strategies will be presented at COP23, the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany in November 2017, as the defining guide to implementing sustainable urban mobility as an important contribution to global climate goals.
